The art of hoping
A bare tree on the side of the Holt Road exit off of 104 east, in a snow storm.
Creative processing using Aperture and Tiffen’s Dfx plugin.

Patience
I think I have been annoying my friends over at Zooomr for the last week or so randomly mixing in different colored shots from this series into my photostream. But hopefully you all like the end result.
An experiment in “pop art” using a series of images of the sun peeking through the gray Rochester clouds. I started using gel filters in post processing to add some interest, and...

"Go around again!"
If you are an avid follower of this site (and why aren’t you if you are not?) you may realize this is the second time I have posted this image. But this image just passed 50 favorites on Zooomr.
There are many people over on Zooomr who have images with more favorites, even double and triple the number this image has, but… For me it’s a milestone, and it really made me smile...

Snowfall on the deadfall
This is one of my personal favorite shots from the end of last year. Surprisingly it didn’t get a lot of attention over on Zooomr, but sometimes that happens. The shot’s I think are great languish, and the images I just toss up there to see what others think get awards.
This shot is of Webster Park. I went out geocaching with my daughter’s Daisey Girl Scout troop, it was...

Apples
A little throw back to autumn, even though I shot this last week while wandering through Wegmans. Apples just make me think of fall.

The Lines
Lines were the challenge topic back on January 14th over at Photochallenge.org. A fairly easy one for one who works in a warehouse full of such things.

The Shallow Depth of Field
Today’s photo is more of a technical piece than an art piece, although I did try to keep it interesting as well.
The Photochallenge.org people, either on purpose, or by pure happenstance happened to have the same topic yesterday as the month long photo assignment going on over on This Week in Photography. The topic is/was shallow depth of field.
Simply put, depth of field (DOF) is the...

T B I
An antique camera out of the collection I inherited from my grandfather.
Does anyone know what the initials T B I mean over the lens? They seem to be some sort of adjustment that can be made.

Seems like there should be a better way...
Now here is something you don’t see every day. In fact this is probably unique.
What you ar elooking at is the top of the safty cage in an antique freight elevator where I work. Oil drips down from the motors and gears and such in the elevator room, and dist and dirt is just a way of life in a warehouse. The two combine to create this image.

I hope you like it
Ahhh, there is nothing like starting off Monday morning with an abstract.
This is a macro of a series of water drops I found on my Storm door. Yesterday for the first time in a few weeks it warm enough that my glass storm door wasn’t just covered in frost.

The Hood
A classic seasonal image, a bit more realistic to the current temperature, 11 degrees, windchill makes it feel like 1 degree fahrenheit.
This is a monochrome image with a blue tint, it’s also the view from my bedroom.

The Fruit
The PhotoChallenge.org 2009 daily photochallenge for day 13. Fruit.
I think I may be in denial. It’s 8 degrees as I post this photo here, but I’m not going to look at the thermometer any more. I’m going to look at the limes and think of tequilla, and time in my hammock.

The Entropy
IMG_8442 Photochallenge.org’s 2009 Challenge shot for January 8th, 2009. Entropy.
This is the third floor ceiling of the warehouse my office is in. I thought the peeling paint not only made a great texture I could exploit in a bit of post processing, but a good subject for the daily 2009 challenge topic, Entropy.
I apologize for the lack of updates here this past week. Yours...

Candle in the window
Since I still havn’t cleaned up my Christmas decorations at home yet, I see no real reason not to keep putting some Christmas photos up here.
This is an electric candle that lives in my Parent’s front window.
It might make a nice Christmas card for next year.

The Window
My 2009 PhotoChallenge from January 5th. The topic of the day was Window.
The most challenging thing about having a daily challenge with an ever changing topic, is trying to fit it in with my job. But this was easy. I figured I’d head up to the elevator room and retake the same dirty window shot I did last year “Forgotten Window.”
Except for one thing, the last time the...

A Lively Collection
Another dip into the archives here. This shot is from last October, when my family and I went for a little photowalk along the Erie Canal, in Fairport, NY.

Another abstract image that I’m fairly happy with. This one was created with a long exposure, some intentional motion and our Christmas Tree lights.

OK, so I don’t mean for this site to just feature the 2009 Photo Challenge pics, but now I am two for two. This is the challenge topic for January 2nd, Pens.

The Bench
I have taken up the 2009 Photo Challenge from my buddies over at photochallenge.org. They are putting out a new challenge every day for 2009.
Day one was called Chair. This is my submission for January 1st. A bench found during a snowfall I found while I was out learning about Geocaching with my daughter’s Daisy Girlscout Troop.
The gang over at photochallenge.org was nice enough to...

Technically Speaking
Happy New Year!!! The Holidays are finally behind me, well almost. I have one more family event tonight, the tradional New Years DayHam Barbeque dinner. But after that, I should be back to a more normal schedule, which means back on track for one new photo a day.
This is an image from Webster Park, last Tuesday. I went out geocaching with my daughter’s troop of Daisey Girl...
