I LIVE TO BE HATED
A Part of Rochester’s own Legal Wall, from back in October 2008. The Legal Wall is a series of buildings with  walls facing the railroad tracks in Rochester, NY,  that the landlord has declared legal for spray painting and graffiti art. It’s constantly being repainted so I am going to make an effort to stop back every so often to check out the new art. http://rocwiki.org/Legal...

- Ralph Waldo Emerson I shot this for Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily photo challenge #50, Water in Motion, in Black & White.  But while I was there, I decided to take a few extra shots and make a high dynamic range photograph as well.   This is the result of the HDR color photography. I shot this with a small aperture creating a longer exposure so the water would “soften...

"The ornament of a house is the friends who...
Well I am on my way back north. Back to the land of snow and ice, but I have a few moments in the Houston airport, so I figured I’d post my favorite photo from the week here. The challenge topic a few days back was water in motion, in black & white. We were just hanging around the house that day so I asked our host and my best friend Rob if there were any waterfalls, nearby. He...

- George Washington. My first attempt at real HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography. This image is a composite of five images from -2ev exposure through +2ev exposure. The images were combined and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro. This is the view from Rob & Nicole’s back porch, from earlier this week. Rob & Nicole have been gracious enough to host my family this past week as we...

I will help you decide

The Orange
Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #38, Orange.  Little did I know that that day after I took the image of the orange cap on one of my favorite bottles of beer, that the next day’s challenge would in fact be beer.   Just more proof that I am indeed at least a day ahead of the curve.  ;-) A bit of commentary on the product.  Shock Top is one of Michelob’s new craft...

An occasional clear, calm day by Wolfman-K
Another summer image, I am so ready to go some place warmer, can you tell.   Good thing I am heading out to see my best buddy Rob in Texas this Friday. This is a Lily planted near the porch of the family cottage on Chaumont Bay, NY. This photo as well as yesterday’s is hosted by Flickr instead of Zooomr.  Zooomr seems to be having some speed issues, and I will be switching back to them...

Paper Tiger
Back into the archives again, this time for a shot from last summer.  This tiger was just posing for me at Rochester’s Seneca Park Zoo. I love big cats.  :) Today’s shot is being hosted by Flickr. …

—Buddha Being a student of Architecture, I have always loved this building.  It’s white vertical lines that flare out at the base.  It’s almost as if the building is made of snow or ice and the sun came out to warm it up just a little bit. This is the Chase Manhattan Tower, in Rochester, NY, I was lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny clear day for a change, so I took...

The Zipper
Something a bit more risque for a Friday. Well not as much as it would seem.  No models were harmed (or even used) to create this image. This is another shot for the 2009 daily challenge from Photochallenge.org.  The theme was, yes you guessed it, zipper. …

The Shoelace
Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #29, Shoelaces. I spent most of the day overthinking this topic, then I just realized all I really needed to do is take a really great picture of a shoelace. Sometimes the best thing to do is to not think outside the box. This is my daughter’s sneaker resting on my kitchen table. …

"Desire creates the power"
Quotation in the title credited to:  Raymond Holliwell This is another of those photos where I was just messing around with processing and decided to toss it up on Zooomr, not expecting anything to happen, and it stuck. In the last five days it has picked up over 20 Faves.  The picture is of a brown seed pod of some unidentified flower surrounded by snow.  I liked the image composition but was...

I'm not ready yet
I’m not sure if the glass with the safety wire in it is obscured or just filthy.  It’s not possible to clean the outside or the inside of it without excessive effort, so I doubt it ever has been cleaned.  The window is in the elevator shaft of the old warehouse I work in. The gray is a perfect match for the skies here most days this time of year. The real focus for the shot is on...

The Horizon
Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #31, Horizon. This was a tough one for my area, as the only guaranteed place you can see a horizon is over Lake Ontario.  But on a drive out to our favorite gift shop/cider mill we spied a break in the tree line that I could use. This is the view from Plank Road looking south, in Webster NY. (yeah I know it’s probably technically Penfield...
