Star Berry and Blue Jeans
It’s always a fun experiment to try and shoot a monochrome image without pushing any pixels to make it that way. This is a simple full color image of a blueberry on my pants.  Shot while parked in my car eating a lunch my daughter made for me. …

All I have to offer
I’m tired of waiting for spring… For some reason the snow has been off the ground here in Rochester for a few weeks now.  But I think it’s made it worse.  The weather has been teasing us with warm days but has been mostly cold still, so the ground is still frozen, the grass is brown, and color is about non existant. This is a primrose plant that rests on our kitchen window...

The Insect
Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #78, Insect. Jeremy and Trevor you are killing me… Give me another month or two and we would be crawling with insects. But right now it’s still too cold. My daughter and I found this guy in our yard last summer and he’s been living on our fireplace mantle ever since. It believe this is just the exoskeleton of a dragonfly. ...

The Up
Shot for Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #74, Up. I cropped this to 9x16 to accentuate the vertical here, which unfortunately makes it fit poorly here on the site, but I guess that’s why they have scroll bars.  :) I have been remis in getting some of the more recent posts over to redbubble lately but that doesn’t mean they are not for sale. If you see something you...

The Vegetable
Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #68, Vegetable. Havn’t you ever wondered what it would look like to drop a radish into a mudpuddle? No? Well me either really but for some reason that’s what this challenge lead me to do. Perhaps in part, because at $1.69, a bag of radishes was the cheapest vegetable I could buy at Topps. Perhaps in part because mud puddles are a...

The Curves
Today’s image is hosted by flickr, since it became popular there before it did on zooomr, a rarity for me.  So It only seems fair that they get to pay the hosting bill for this one.  ;-) The Curves was shot for Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #67, Curves. The curves in this case is the fungus  growing on this fallen tree (also curved) in my back yard.  The woods behind my...

The Sadness
Photochallenge.org’s 2009 daily challenge #64, Emotion: Sadness. Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester is one of my favorite photographic haunts. I usually see it as history, not sadness, but I still pause for a moment when I come across a baby’s grave. This image was processed in Photomatix as a Pseudo HDR.  That means I only took one image, and let the software process the RAW file...

Another archive photo.  This one from last August.  I like how the backhoe bucket seems to be trying to pick the flower.  This one never got really popular over on zooomr, but it always makes me smile. …

When it all comes together
I’ve taken on a few to many projects lately and my backlog of photos hasn’t been uploaded, so….   time to drop back to September and punt, as it were. This is an image of a rogue pumpkin flower that was growing in one of my wife’s gardens last summer.  I say it’s rogue because I’m fairly certtain we didn’t intend for it to grow there.   But none the...

Fun Rays
My daughter and I were laying on the bed one morning and we saw these great reflections of sunlight on our ceiling. They were made by several thin lines of light coming through partially open slats in our window blinds reflecting off of a shoe box with a clear plastic top. My daughter named this one, Fun Rays. This one goes back to June of last year, and I can’t believe I have never...
