The Horizon

The Horizon

“Flowers are easy.  Anyone can take a decent picture of a beautiful flower.”  The trick to standing out in a crowd is find a better angle, composition, or presentation that changes the image from a pretty picture to something you’d want to hang on your wall.

The other trick is to know what you are shooting, and sadly I often don’t.   I think this is in the thistle family.   It was a flower on a sticky, prickly vine growing in a field near Chaumont Bay, in upstate NY.

What I really like about this image, is the water drops hiding under the curling petals and the little bug crawling down the stalk near the head of the flower.  These are easy to miss in lower resolution versions of this image.

An 11x 14 print of this image is less than $7.00 over on Photrade.  Click the image below to be taken to Photrade and check out all the purchase options, from inexpensive prints to museum quality canvas, to mugs and sweatshirts.
