Tiny Dragons

My wife came up with the wonderful title for this image.   The shot is of the Stamen of one of the many Tiger Lilys we have in our gardens.  More specifically, the anthers of those stamen.

This photo was a bit of an experiment.  I learned from my friends at Zooomr about using a reversed 50mm lens as a make shift macro lens.   This photo is one of the results.

I purchased an adapter ring and a revers coupling ring from Adorama, very inexpensivly and I’m pretty pleased with the results.   The only problem I run into is some heavy vingetting due to the size difference between my reversed 50mm f1.8 and my 18-55mm IS lens that I use as the base lens for this set up.  But it’s nothing an aggressive crop can’t fix ;)
